If you're a hiring manager, chances are that you've found it difficult to find qualified candidates. One of the best ways to make sure your company is able to attract the right talent is by writing an excellent job description.

1. Get the job title right.
This should be clear from the beginning, so that you don't have to spend time explaining it later. If you are looking for someone that is more open-minded, with a startup mindset- perhaps try the title growth hacker for digital marketing, or talent hunter for recruitment? This will not only help you attract the right people, but it also helps them orient themselves to your company culture and goals.
2. Sell your company vision
What does your company do? Why would someone want to work with you? What's your mission statement or core values that make it worth working for this company and not another one just like yours?
3. Focus on growth and commitment
Your candidate should feel like there is a future with this company. Mentorship is often one thing talents look out for. Let them know that they will grow with your company.
4. Be clear about expectations and set the right expectations
What does success mean for them in the role? Set appropriate KPIs and share the KPIs with them in the JD so that they understand better what is expected.
Expectations could be: to deliver these specific tasks, or to bring in this much revenue in a year. Include what needs to happen if they don't meet those goals (such as being let go).
5. Articulate the right skillsets needed
This will help show that you're looking for a certain type of person, which is also helpful in preventing any confusion later on.
6. Include videos or photos showcasing your company
Video can be a great way to show your company culture. Showcase the team they will be working with, or the office space! Seeing a video about life at your company will also make you more memorable. It's always nice to get a sense of what the company is about, and you want to make sure that your candidate is excited too!
7. Highlight the benefits of working at your company
When you're also telling them about the benefits, salary and other perks that they will get if they join your company- so why would someone want to work anywhere else?
8. Be Honest and Transparent
There are some things you can't control - so don't over-commit on things like salary or benefits. Be clear, precise, accurate. You might be tempted to embellish certain details--but if you want to attract the right talent, it's better not to in the long run.
